GRU bounties, China HK threats, Steven Greer UFOs, Hong Kong, FCI Miami

Why the GRU bounty story won’t die. The evidence against Russia is significant, and more is very likely to come out.

US must rebuke China over its threat to American in relation to Hong Kong security law. Beijing does not have dominion over all the citizens of the world.

Did Steven Greer fake a UFO with flares? Flight tracking data and the observational characteristics suggest he may well have.

Banning candidates, China shows the true intent of its national security law. The subjugation of Hongkonger rights and democracy is near complete.

Attorney General Barr must take charge of Florida prison crisis. The situation at FCI Miami is increasingly catastrophic.

China bombers, Trump NATO, Operation Cobra, Russia partisanship

China just conducted a bomber exercise targeting U.S. aircraft carriers. There’s a clearly intended message for Washington, here.

Trump’s Germany redeployment has good and bad elements. Boosting  Mediterranean air power presence is positive. Pulling troops home is bad.

Operation Cobra, or how 76 years ago today, the U.S. Army broke out of Normandy. The victory ended a seven week stalemate after D-Day.

New proof that Russian antics have nothing on American partisanship. Conservatives and liberals do Vladimir Putin’s work for him.

NATO Belgium, Kim's nukes

Trump punishes low defense spending Germany by rewarding even lower spending Belgium. The president needs to check up on his math.

Did Kim Jong Un just bury Trump’s nuclear diplomacy? The North Korean leader’s veterans day speech suggests he might have.

Google cable, Ecuador China, Iran exercise

The intelligence angle in Google’s new transatlantic cable. The NSA, GCHQ, and the Russian GRU will have interest in what flows across the cable.

Ecuador should sink Chinese fishing pirates who invade Galapagos reserve. A line must be drawn against China’s ongoing oceanic genocide.

Iranian aircraft carrier exercise is a veil for weakness and fear, not strength. The Iranians are trying to generate fearful U.S. media reports.

Lebanese Hezbollah, Putin Ukraine, Gestapo America

Why the Lebanese Hezbollah is escalating against Israel. The group likely believes it must show strength in face of recent defeats. It also faces domestic political reasons to pursue escalation.

Vladimir Putin plays Volodymyr Zelensky with Ukraine cease fire. The Russians are quite open about their disinterest in living up to the cease fire commitments.

The Gestapo stupidity tsunami. Calling police officers Nazis, the political left tolerates criminality and invites ultimate political disaster.

Australia, Xi's clownery, Trump Boris

Grant Australia unprecedented second state visit. Under Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Australia has shown it is a priceless American ally.

Xi Jinping shows his clownish character with purge over satirical article. The nature of this regime is not in doubt.

Looking to the election, Trump should take example from Boris Johnson's humility. Voters want to see leaders who can learn and a president who recognizes no one is perfect.

UK Intelligence, Russia satellites, Pompeo China, Miami prison

What we just learned about British intelligence. A new parliamentary report shows where Britain is resourcing its intelligence lines of effort.
A satellite weapon wake up call from Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader intends to contest the U.S. in space warfare.

Mike Pompeo, and the threat of Xi Jinping’s “dream.” The Secretary of State speaks to the nature of the Chinese Communist Party.

Families say Bureau of Prisons is lying about Miami facility. They say that their loved ones are being treated like animals.

China

Why China’s closing of a U.S. consulate will be less damaging than vice versa. The key is the variable intelligence opportunity of each country’s consulate.

China consulate, Police argument, Miami prison, China espionage

Why the U.S. ordered China’s consulate in Houston closed. The consulate was being used as a central-west espionage hub

Why Trump is winning the national policing argument. People don’t want to get shot and do want police protection.

Department of Justice must address Miami prison crisis. Prisoners are without medical supplies, and are being penalized for raising the alarm.
China’s espionage on U.S. soil won’t stop with Houston consulate closure. Xi Jinping is committed to his global agenda.

Russia report - three parts

Spies among us: the intelligence angle in British parliament’s new Russia report.

Illicit finance and influence: the role of Russian money in British politics. As documented by parliament’s new report.

Responding effectively: the means of Britain’s improved response to Russian aggression on its soil.

See also, my October 2019 report on a Russian front organization which operates at the heart of the British parliament.

Lebanese Hezbollah, EU bailout, Iraq's PM

Lebanese Hezbollah’s growing crisis. The militia-political-terrorist group is caught between its power structure and the need for foreign investment.

EU bailout talks show division between the project and the nation. Various interests appear mutually exclusive, here.

Iraq’s new prime minister stands up to Kata’ib Hezbollah. The former head of the National Intelligence Service is putting his nation’s interests before Iran’s interests.

Trump South China Sea, Communist travel, Russian vaccine attacks

Why Trump must clarify his South China Sea position. The president needs to show that he has a clear strategy and is aware of the risks.

Don't ban U.S. travel by Chinese Communist Party members. It might sound like a good idea, but it will do U.S. interests more harm than good.

Retaliate against Russia vaccine attacks. Vladimir Putin finds inspiration in our display of apparent weakness.

Xi's new letter, China on Royal Navy deployment, Trump's self-harm insults to South Korea

Xi Jinping’s new letter underlines his fears over the future of Chinese politics. The Communist Party leader is determined to have absolute fealty.

Why China is furious - and wrong - about an upcoming Royal Navy deployment to the South China Sea. The British are not as weak as Beijing claims.

Trump hurts his own cause with South Korea insults. The president is right to demand higher military spending but wrong to insult this ally.

China's Hong Kong sanctions concern, Why China didn't freak out over Huawei ban

Why China sees Hong Kong sanctions as a critical threat. Those sanctions cut a hard line between China’s global ambition and its domestic insecurity reflex.

Why China reacted mildly to Britain’s Huawei ban. The Chinese have reason to think the decision may be overturned, and that they must be cautious.

China J20-B, Peace Corps funding for China

Fear China's ballistic missiles, not its new J-20B stealth fighter. The means by which a South China Sea conflict would be fought do not suggest the J-20B would be critical.

Democrats ignore intelligence threat and demand funding for the Peace Corps’ China operation. House members should reconsider their stance.

Pompeo vs. China, DSGE China

Why Mike Pompeo’s South China Sea statement is so significant. It shifts formal policy and it introduces a quiet Jus ad bellum.

France spy scandal illustrates China’s growing intelligence challenge. The sentencing of two DGSE officers for treason is significant.

China's wolf warrior, Australia vs. China, Huawei lies

Does China’s ‘wolf warrior’ have rabies? Zhao Lijian is certainly acting like he isn’t very well. His daily press briefings are increasingly absurd.
Tariff China if it sanctions Australia. Canberra is a very close ally deserving of American support.
Huawei executives caught in a lie. Offering testimony to the British House of Commons, the executives claimed they are allowed to speak freely. They then proved the contrary is true.

Angela Merkel, Israeli-Palestine one state solution, IDS on China

The Angela Merkel fallacy. The German Chancellor’s reputation as the shield of liberal international order isn’t well earned. In fact, it’s a total joke.
A one state solution would be catastrophic for Israel. The political cultures in Israel and Palestine would not combine easily - if at all.
Iain Duncan Smith compares China to Nazi Germany. Speaking on Wednesday, the influential British parliamentarian called for tougher action against Beijing.

Britain vs. Huawei, Russia vs. Hospitals

Why Britain is moving against Huawei. Boris Johnson’s government has reassessed the risks the firm presents, and the risks of not supporting Washington.
Report shows how Russia deliberately destroyed a Syrian hospital. The UN has done some rare good work here, documenting a war crime.

al-Shami strikes

Relevant to my piece on the Russian air strikes against Ariha's al-Shami hospital, I've measured the distance between Russia's Khmeimim air base and Ahira. At 45 miles, it fits well with the UN report's finding of an approximate 10 minute gap between the Russian jet departure from Khmeimim and the commenced air strikes. Note also the report's finding of three successive strikes on different sides of the hospital (indicative of Russian missile targeting versus Syrian air force bombing).

China

We’re closer to a South China Sea conflict than you think. For reasons of political strategy and emotion, China is running towards growing risk of war with the U.S.

China threat

Eyeing China’s threat, Australia boosts defense budget and U.S. arms purchases. The Australian government recognizes the need to be ready.

Hong Kong, Money Launderers

Expel Chinese diplomats over its charging of Hong Kongers with mainland security law. There must be a commensurate response to this injustice.

Congress must get anti money laundering legislation onto the defense bill. Time is running out to act.
